Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Mental Conditioning for the Bar Exam program?
- It is a program to condition you to perform at your best on the Bar exam. There are two program versions available: the customized program and the seminar.
How long is the program?
- The customized Program: ten 2-hour sessions over 4 to 6 weeks. This is a general guideline and will change according to your needs. Additional personalized sessions are available at reduced cost after you have completed the course.
- The seminar: 8 weekends or equivalent, either on 8 successive weekends or Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday of 4 successive weeks
How do I “get optimized” for the Bar exam?
- Taking the Bar exam is a performance, just as playing in a championship game or giving a recital on stage. To achieve an optimal performance requires conditioning and knowing your material on a level where you are unconsciously competent
What is the relationship of the PPP program to regular bar review courses?
- The PPP course is designed to enhance other bar courses. They teach content. We teach you how to easily memorize and recall the content. We also help you memorize the black letter law. Although our program will complement any bar review course, we highly recommend affiliated bar tutors.
What is the difference between the customized program and the seminar?
- The customized program is shorter, and is tailored to your concerns. We teach you how to memorize black letter law, and are able to memorize most of it, but you will need to finish memorizing it on your own. Once you are optimized mentally, you will find this an easy and enjoyable task. This is an excellent option for those who work best on their own or have a challenging schedule.
- The seminar covers more material in more depth. It is less individualized and more comprehensive. The entire corpus of the black letter law for the exam is covered.
The customized program is good if:
- You have limited time
- You like to work one-on-one.
- You only need to learn the precise techniques that will be most effective for you personally
- You do well working on your own (you are a self-starter), and can complete the black letter law memorization once you learn the techniques
The seminar is good if:
- You have a lot of issues about passing the exam
- Your academic performance in school was near or below average
- You are very anxious about whether you will pass
- You have experienced test anxiety in the past
- You want to learn 3 or 4 times as many techniques to enhance your ability to perform at your optimum
- You will learn every aspect of the black letter law necessary for the exam, using our enhanced memorization and recall techniques.
- You are concerned about the level of preparation you received in law school
- You are concerned you might not complete the material unless you do it in class
- You work better in a group or with ongoing support from others
Why should I take this course in addition to a regular Bar review course?
- It makes learning the material easier.
- It minimizes stress.
- You learn how to memorize material faster, more easily, and in ways that guarantee better recall and enhance your ability to use the material.
- You learn how to manage your emotional states and turn on peak mental states at will.
- When you walk into the exam, and before it, you will feel calm and resourceful instead of stressed and anxious, so you will perform at your best.
How do I know that what I experience in the course will translate into a superior performance on the Bar exam?
- Like a highly conditioned athlete, your responses in the exam will be rehearsed until they are automatic.
I have lots of debt already from law school, and my other Bar review course is expensive. How can I afford to take your course?
- Half the people who take the Bar for the first time fail. Like you, they invested tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in law school and Bar preparation courses — yet they still fail. Those who re-take the Bar Exam have only a 14% chance of passing. Law school and other Bar preparation programs are simply not enough.
- If you have any doubt that you will not pass the bar, you can’t afford not to take this course! It will enhance everything you’ve learned, make other Bar review courses easier and less stressful, and guarantee that when you show up for the Bar Exam, you will perform at your best.
What if I need more help?
- Additional one-on-one sessions are available for course students and graduates for a reduced price. Contact us for details at (510) 496-6050.
I went to _________________________(Stanford, UC Berkeley, Harvard, etc.) Law School, which has over a 95% pass rate for the Bar exam. Why should I take this course?
- Lower stress.
- Less time spent studying
- Easier studying
- Helpful if you have a job
- Easier time taking Bar Exam preparation courses, spending less time and with much less stress
- Even greater likelihood of passing
- Adequate law school preparation does not mean exam performance preparation. It should also be noted that the top law schools have about a 15% pass rate for re-takers. Should you fail the exam for some reason, the odds are not with you to pass on the second try.
- With the downturn of the economy, more and more students will be taking the Bar exam. For this reason, state Bar associations will likely increase the difficulty of the exam.
How can I be sure that I won’t just freak out during the exam, despite having taken this course?
- Like an athlete being conditioned for an Olympic competition, you will be conditioned at a level where your responses will be automatic. Any and all scenarios for experiencing the Bar Exam will be accounted for, rehearsed, and compensated for.
I’m already overwhelmed with all the Bar review material. Won’t this be too much?
- This course is designed to reduce your stress level, like a vacation, and to make study easier, faster, and more fun.
All Bar review courses are different. How is it that what I get from your course will work in any one of them?
- They teach content, We teach how to memorize, recall, and use the content
- We also teach you how to get into your optimum learning states at will, manage your emotional states, etc.
What you teach seems like it can be valuable for any type of exam. Do you offer this course for other types of exams?
- Yes, we do. Go to our section on Personalized Test Preparation.
Why don’t you offer this as an online course?
- It’s impossible.
- In our experience, computers lack the complexity to condition the human mind.
- We will need you to do things and interact with other people in order to get the results. When we do our classes live, we observe student responses carefully, and adjust what we’re doing so that you and everyone else in the class understands the material and succeeds with the exercises. There’s no way we can do that in a “canned” or online course — live, real-time interaction is essential to getting you the result you want.
- In order to deliver the results to you, interaction on a personal level is essential.
I’m just starting law school right now. Is there a way that you would be able to help me?
- The best time to take our course is before or when you enter law school — for several reasons:
- You start school with enhanced memorization techniques, improved recall, more powerful motivation, and a host of techniques and abilities that will help you learn and perform with ease, and with minimum stress. You can even have fun with law school!
- You will therefore find all the material easier to learn. Study will take far less time, and you will do much better on tests.
- If you choose to memorize the black letter law, you will enter law school with a mental framework that will make learning, organizing, understanding, and memorizing the particulars of law far, far easier and faster.
- You can re-take the entire course at any time for a significantly reduced rate. So you can review it before you take the Bar.
I’m taking the Bar exam in a state other than California. Do you have a program for me?
- We currently have the program customized for the California Bar Exam. However, it is commonly recognized that the California Bar Exam is the most difficult bar exam in the U.S. If you are taking the Bar exam in another state, the multi-state portions of the black letter law will be identical. With our customized program, we can modify the areas of the black letter law that are particular to your state and prepare you equally as well.
What experience do you have? Are you lawyers?
- No, we are not lawyers. We are memory trainers and peak performance experts. If you want to become Michael Jordan, you don’t get taught by Michael Jordan—you get taught by his coach. We have mastered the way to present the black letter law so that it may be memorized most easily and quickly. This program is designed to help you perform best in a bar review course, not to replace a bar review course. Lots of courses teach you tricks to do better on the Bar exam. What makes you different?
- Our program is holistically designed . Most “tricks” that are taught in other courses are not integrated into a comprehensive program and you are not conditioned at all to use them. Most of those “tricks” taught in other courses will not work when it counts, for that reason.
How is this different from BarBri?
- BarBri is the most widely-known course for bar preparation. Its focus is on content. Our course enables you to use the content that you learn most effectively. If you have signed up for BarBri, you need to take our course!
What are your results?
- We currently have a 100% pass rate for the California Bar Exam!
